Chris is a young transplant to New York City in desperate need of a job. When he scores a coveted interview with Derek Carson of Erickson Solutions, he’ll do anything it takes to score a position at the firm!
On the commuter train into the city to prepare for his interview, Chris has an unexpected hot encounter with a mysterious stranger, which threatens to derail him. Can Chris convince the boss that he’s just the man for the job?
Excerpt:
On Tuesday morning, Chris took the train into the city to his meeting with Courtney. His appointment was for 11:00, so the morning rush was mostly over, and the train, though not empty, was mostly quiet. Most of the commuters in his train were reading or listening to their iPods and looking out the window. Chris was wearing a pressed white shirt, grey suit and a sky-blue tie. Sitting in the train car reviewing his notes, he began to have a strange sensation, as though someone was watching him. He hesitantly glanced up, and noticed a man in a suit seated about fifteen feet away from him, who seemed to be appraising him. Thick, dark hair, steely blue eyes, and masculine build, in a clearly expensive suit that fit him to perfection.
As the younger man’s eyes met his, the older man leaned back lazily in his seat, cocking his head. He looked Christ straight in the eyes, blinked once slowly, and then let his mouth curve upward in a knowing, slightly sardonic smile. Chris felt the heat rush to his face as he glanced down, embarrassed. He hadn’t had a lot of experience being picked up in gay bars or anything, but he had the distinct impression he was being… well, not cruised, exactly, but… what?
Chris fought to keep his composure. This guy was definitely hot as hell. If this guy ever approached him in a bar… Get a grip on yourself, Jenson! Chris shook himself out of his reverie. He was on his way to prepare for a job interview. He had to snap out of this. He raised his eyes and returned the other man’s gaze, though he felt his face reddening even more. The man raised his eyes momentarily in surprise, and then his smile widened almost imperceptibly. Whoa... He hadn’t meant to do that. Now he’d just made it worse. Chris's breath began to quicken as his body responded on its own. He needed to get out of here now. As much as he hated to walk away from the most exciting encounter he had had since arriving in New York, he didn’t have time for this. Chris tore his gaze away from the other man, stood up, and moved to the end of the car toward the bathrooms.
