The rules which govern the stories are: the stories must be of substance and significance. Consider each story as a child’s coloring book for your imagination. You are allowed to fill in the colors as you wish. I call it the New American Short Story for its strict composition and ability to juxtapose two images with exactly 100 words forming a crystalline image for the reader. This should help when reading: 1. The title sets the stage 2. The first half of the story is the build –up 3. The last half leads up to a great finish, that plants a picture in your mind.
