Ben Fox was 45, standing a modest 5’10 he was of average build with short, brushed back salt and pepper hair and soft green eyes.
Whereas you wouldn't describe him as handsome or anything, in all fairness nor had he fallen out of the ugly tree at birth and hit every branch on the way down.
According to his friends he’d missed at least 2 and possibly even 3.
He stood staring open mouthed at the house.
An 8-bedroomed Georgian mansion set in 12 acres of walled woodland, it had belonged to his great aunt Eliza Fox.
24 hours earlier, Ben hadn't even been aware he had a great aunt Eliza, let alone that she’d passed away 6 months earlier making him her sole heir.
As well as the house, his inheritance included just shy of £40 million, and a housekeeper chosen by his late great aunt based on nothing more than a Facebook profile.
He also inherited a 318 year old vampire sworn to kill him, two confederate infantry zombies, some ghosts, a pack of werewolves and a giant Neanderthal called Brian who lived in the cellar.
With the help of his three best mates, his ginger haired housekeeper and her mother Liz, who showed up unannounced and simply stayed. Not only must Ben stay alive long enough to enjoy his newly inherited fortune, but he decides he's going to turn them all into something vaguely resembling a family.
So come, kettles on, welcome to the manor.
