This book is the product of a regional seminar on Non-Traditional Security: State, Society and Democracy in South Asia organized by Nepal Centre for Contemporary Studies (NCCS). It has tried to reconceptualize security from a democratic perspective because democracy is being interpreted as an overall empowerment of people. Democracy is also a way of life providing psychological, economic, social, political, environmental and military security and hence the role of the state is also focussed upon in this light. Democracy in developing countries like Nepal is inclusive and people-centric.
