Naomi's Tide

As an only child, Naomi thought it was ok that grownups lied and yelled and took money from their kids. Broken promises and moving houses a lot was just a regular thing, she thought. Older now, she realized that how her mom acted was anything but normal. Being a gifted student but a shy young lady who’s trying to fit in and act like a teenager, Naomi struggles with why her mother treats her so horribly. Was it the billowing storm of a past with her father that ignited resentment towards Naomi? Just what is the reason Leslie Gates-Thompson despises her daughter so much? Mentally and physically exhausted, Naomi gets the courage and decides her mother is not going to damage her anymore.
