I found myself on duty that morning in the laboratory of The Queens Hospital with only a Japanese aide for a helper. This book tells the story of the major changes that took place during the twenty-four years I spent in the Islands. My marriage to a naval officer engineer took us after the war to the Island of Maui, where we lived first in a rain forest and then on a sugar plantation.
