Following the sudden death of her only brother in early 2016 Jean Hendy-Harris decided to write the book that they had always planned to embark upon together, detailing their Thameside childhood in the years that followed World War II.
More than Just Skeletons is a series of stories and anecdotes about their early lives, an account of cheerful poverty and fundamental deprivation that would barely be recognised today, of food rationing and shortages, overcrowding and neediness, a memoir of a time that is now almost forgotten.
