Just about everyone has heard of the bible and the Ten Commandments. In fact, there are some 640 laws in the bible. Most folks also understand that those who obey these Laws will be accepted by God. This is how the Old Covenant works; God's acceptance of us is based on our performance or obediance to the Law. The sad truth is that only Jesus Christ could keep all of the laws all of the time but to be honest, no one else can achieve this. It is completely beyond our abilities.
So God tells us that a better or New Covenant has
been made which begins with Christ's death on the cross to pay for all of our sins.
Basic Grace is about this New Covenant of grace as it is taught in the bible, what it means to live under grace and how it works. In other words, now God's acceptance is based on Christ's obediance or sacrifice for our sins on the cross. Now our performance is the result of God's acceptance, not the cause of it.
God's grace meets us where ever we are at, and then takes us to where God wants us to be. He always does this by grace through faith. God will always meet us where we are at rather than where we want to be.
There is a critical difference between the Law and grace. Basic grace will takes us to where we can clearly understand and rejoice in this difference.
