ABOUT THE BOOK

Louis C.K. is famous because he’s funny. Known primarily for his stand-up comedy, Louis C.K. is the type of comedian that will have you laughing even if you think what he is saying is vulgar and crude. And crude he often is with jokes that talk about masturbation, farts, sucking dicks, and even gay marriage.

In his fans’ opinion, however, Louis’ shock value is just half the fun. On stage, he has a special ability to push his audiences’ buttons without actually pissing them off so much that they leave. It is well known that he is the type of comedian that will have you laughing even when you disagree, usually on a moral level, with the jokes he tells.

MEET THE AUTHOR

Macie Melendez has been a professional writer since 2005 and has been published in various publications, including Home Energy and San Francisco magazine, among others. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from San Diego State University, and currently lives in San Francisco with her husband and their dog.

EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK

Louis’ background as a comedian officially began in 1984 when he took to the stage in Boston, Massachusetts during an open mic night. With little material and confidence, Louis could only stay on stage for two minutes. Needless to say, he was not pleased with the experience. It effected him so negatively, in fact, that he actually didn’t get back on a stage to do stand-up comedy until two years later. Louis has come a long way since then.

One of his biggest accomplishments was his first Emmy win in 1999 for his “Outstanding Writing for a Variety or Music Program” for The Chris Rock Show. He was nominated two other times for his Chris Rock work, and was nominated also in 2000 for his work on Late Night With Conan O’Brien, although those didn’t come in as wins.

More recently, the awards have been stacking up for Louis C.K. with recent nominations at several film festivals for his comedy specials and his newest TV sitcom. His latest series Louie actually won him the Television Critics Association Award in 2011.
