Lost In The Badlands is the first of the three part series The Badlands Saga, an adventure story for middle grade readers. Laura, 14, and her brother Mike, 12, are walking in the Badlands of South Dakota when a mysterious time-storm sweeps them 12,000 years into the past, a time when the Badlands were lush and wet. They meet a cave-dwelling Stone Age family. Their first task is finding out what happened to them and how to get back to the twenty-first century. A pair of unscrupulous archaeologists have followed them into the past. When the kids discover that the archaeologists intend to return with a member of the family, dead or alive, they realize they have put the family at risk. They must choose between saving the family or going home.
