Lightfoot Takes Flight

The still, mirrored surface of Cutler’s Pond belies a seething tempest below. The pond is a pulsating soup of living organisms, all of them vying for space, nourishment and security. For a young dragonfly, life in this watery universe is fraught with hazards, and survival depends as much on luck and instinct as skill and cunning. In an aquatic world where each moment could bring a meal or misfortune, Lightfoot manages to mature into a creature whose shape and function have changed very little in the last 250 million years.
