Cancer is an equal opportunity disease. Strike 1: In 1995, Gerald’s radiation oncologists gave him a fifty percent chance of surviving tongue cancer three years disease free. Strike 2: In 1997, neck cancer restarted his recovery clock. And strike 3: In 2008, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Life Constricted To Love, Hugs and Laughter isn’t a baseball metaphor. Written from a father’s perspective it mainly addresses the first discovery and treatment.

Before cancer, I had worked as a gas engineer and project manager. After cancer, I was reborn a survivor and a writer. I once thirsted for external happiness. Now I’m more reflective and patient. But constant low-level background neck pain that intensifies under stress sometimes clouds my judgment while guiding my teenage son toward manhood. My wife, Monica, beams love bright like the North Star and illuminates the way.
