Megan, a 9 year old orphaned girl from the 1800s, lives in a small cabin with her impoverished uncle John. One fateful night, Megan and John cross paths with a troll named Treveur, who happened to be running from a blood thirsty wolf. Treveur takes them on a quest for treasure, that turns into an adventure that Megan won't soon forget. John is uncertain whether he can trust the troll, is he a friend or foe? Then, Treveur is sent on a daring quest by the Troll King to retrieve special roots that have healing powers. The King , and his best friend are both in peril, their very lives hang in the balance. Treveur must venture through a dark forest to do battle with the venomous spiders that stand guard over the roots. Along the way, Treveur receives help from his courageous human friends. If Treveur succeeds at his quest, not only will he gain the respect of his fellow trolls, he will also gain a noble title from the Troll King himself.
