Laying Up Treasures In Heaven

Treasure refers to a store of very precious, valuable, and important things. And the Word of God tells us that where your treasure is, is where your heart will be. Why? Because it is very valuable and important to you; and losing it will deprive you of great joy and comfort. The greatest treasure of man is his soul, though many people do not know it. Many people lay up treasures for themselves on this earth. Many people lay up their money and treasure in banks; and that is where their hope and pride are. Others lay up their treasures in buildings, estates, cars, and others valuables. But the Word of God says, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal” (Matt. 6:19-20).
