Three hundred years ago, a bloodthirsty and power-hungry leader came to power. He was called Dezmortthe head of a merciless army of rats who devoured and destroyed every new civilization they could find. One such civilization was known as Kretonia, with its residents called the Burning Tails. True to character, Dezmort conquered this peaceful city and exiled its population. The Burning Tails were sent underground, beneath a mountain. If they attempted escape, they would be killed. To avoid extinction, the Burning Tail race made do with what they had beneath the mountain. Years passed, and soon the Burning Tails built a successful society, beyond the reach of the sun. They multiplied and were fruitful for decades, until even the elders forgot about the world above. Now, a young Burning Tail named Kristo grows curious about the world beyond the borders of his underground home. Kristo will unknowingly change his civilization forever, escaping the darkness and stepping into the light. But are the Burning Tails ready to return to the surface? And what of Dezmorts army of rats? Do they still stand outside, waiting to crush the beautiful Burning Tails? It will take bravery to escape the mountain prison, and young Kristo might be the one to do it.
