King Size Bed

Review by Andrew Johns -

In "King Size Bed", we get the story of Gary and Megan, and Megan's best friend Lisa. The story is told exclusively from Gary's PoV. The three go on a trip together to a resort, expecting Lisa's boyfriend Tim to show up. Sex is on the brain, as they are looking forward to a hot and romantic trip. But when Tim cancels out and Lisa is stuck without a room, Gary and Megan let Lisa stay with them. The only problem? There's only a king size bed in the room, and they only packed lingerie for sleeping. What are they to do?

The sex in this story was wonderfully done. The sheer enjoyment the characters got from teasing each other to finally experimenting outside the bounds of their normal relationships was a treat to read. The sense of wonder and playfulness really came across. Once they crossed the first line, it spiraled continually higher, much to everyone's enjoyment.

The plot itself is nicely done for a relatively short piece. We are given a great build-up in their excitement and expectation for the vacation, so everything comes across as extremely plausible. That made reading this story a lot more fun.

Technically, there are effectively no errors that I noticed. The writing was tight, and the author wielded the first person PoV with a deft touch.

I have always enjoyed this story, and have kept it in my personal library since it was first written. Gary and Megan have a wonderful marriage, and Lisa makes a great friend to them both.

I highly recommend this one.

Plot: 10 | Stroke Ratio: 10 | Technical Quality: 10 | Appeal to Reviewer: 10
