Karma Crossed

Gritty modern day San Francisco is an epicenter of supernatural activity. The ghosts, demons, witches, and werewolves are bad enough, but there's also the Majistry, a powerful secret society tasked with bringing all of these magical, mystical beings together into one all-inclusive group. The idea may sound nice, but the reality? Not so much. The wildly disparate groups meld like clay and iron, making pretenses in public while continuing to plot and scheme in the shadows.

Jonah Cross is a loner with an unusual ability to show up when help is needed. When a Berkeley professor is assassinated and Jonah fails to stop the crime, he's on the hook. Jonah is pursued by Majistry operatives, renegade vigilantes, and a dogged FBI agent, all of whom are convinced that Jonah committed the murder. In order to solve the crime and clear his name, Jonah will be forced to call upon his greatest allies and worst enemies, from a three-hundred year-old alchemist who was burned at the stake during the Salem Witch Trials to a powerful but dangerous sorceress. The path to solving the mystery is fraught with dangers, and Jonah's strange karma seems to be working against him every step of the way. Even if he can overcome all of this and learn the truth, Jonah still might live to regret it.
