On November 1, 2014, at 3:06 am, Joe Mayberry left his broken, earthly body and went home, escorted by a band of angels. While this may sound like an ordinary story of an ordinary Christian finally receiving their Heavenly reward, I assure you it is anything but. The story I have to tell you will frustrate you, inspire you, bring you to tears, and make you shout hallelujah! – much the same way that Joe did when he was with us. I only knew him for 15 months, but the impact he had on me will last a lifetime. As I sat with him in those final days I prayed again and again for God to use the experience to bring others to him. God honored that request – this is the result.

This is a story about the bondage of addiction and the powerful impact of fervent prayers. It is about hope, deliverance, and salvation through Jesus Christ.
Addiction is an all-consuming, possessive, jealous spouse and it does not leave room for anything else, but we serve a God who is greater, who will do "whatever it takes" for us to be saved.
