Jennifer Kolby is a fairly young widow who is just trying to get through the day with her two teenage sons. She has an assortment of friends ranging from a respected doctor, a well meaning neighbor named ElNora, and friend and a guy she calls Cat Boy. When ElNora is found half beaten to death in a dumpster outside of Jennifer's apartment everything thinks at first that it is Jennifer. ElNora is wearing Jennifer's coat and had the hood up and Jennifer had left her date planner in the pocket when she gave the coat to ElNora when she was leaving Jennifer's apartment.
