Il volume dedica a Barcelona, Lyon e Paris tre itinerari di architettura e paesaggio che non intendono descrivere le città nella loro totalità, ma offrire una selezione di opere che mostrano nel loro complesso le diverse capacità di rilettura e riscrittura di tessuti, spazialità urbane e manufatti. In questo senso ciascun itinerario si fa rivelatore dell'intensità con cui le città aggiornano i propri linguaggi offrendosi alle nuove necessità della società contemporanea, locale e internazionale, come risorsa strutturale del patrimonio e del mercato culturale. Ciascun itinerario è introdotto da una pianta che sintetizza la forma urbana di appartenenza e le opere sono descritte da brevi schede testuali e fotografiche. Questo lavoro raccoglie la prima selezione di casi studio di una più ampia ricerca in ambito europeo dedicata alla lettura dell'architettura e del paesaggio che utilizza l'itinerario come dispositivo interpretativo e narrativo. Il volume è a cura di Giovanni Battista Cocco e Cesarina Siddi. The three itineraries in this volume are devoted to Barcelona, Lyon and Paris. They do not describe the cities overall but rather offer a selection of projects that illustrate how the cities' urban fabrics, spaces and buildings can be reread and rewritten. In this sense, each itinerary reveals the intensity with which cities update their languages offering structural resources that can respond to the new needs of contemporary society - both on local and international levels. Each itinerary is introduced through a plan that synthesizes the context's urban form; the single projects are briefly described in text and photographic narratives. This book is a first selection of a series of case studies within a European research project devoted to the reading of architecture and landscape utilizing the itinerary as an interpretative and narrative device.
