It was madness from the moment I left.

Every year thousands of people leave to travel the world. Not everyone has the same experience. I spent my student loan on a ticket around the world. I was out of the country straight after graduation. I left London for Bangkok with Rory and James, my two chums from Uni. It was lads on tour…for a whole year.

This is my story, a story of an adventure that left me satisfied with my life. I’ll tell you everything. It’s not all sunsets and serenity. Its fucking madness mixed with the unexpected. This is the world of backpacking in all its glory.

I backpacked around South East Asia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore then on to Melbourne before working in Sydney and then up the East Coast. I’d travel New Zealand and then finish my journey in America.

I experienced the great things in life and the not so great. I had a gun pointed at me by the Thai mafia, I partied the Full Moon Party on New Years, I was interrogated by the Singapore Police, I cleaned gutters for money in Bondi Beach, I was arrested at a music festival, I lived in a campervan in New Zealand and I had a warrant out for my arrest in California. Not to mention the crazy nights out, the drug experiences and the sexual encounters. I met some amazing people, people who were crazy and people who were just plain stupid and sometimes someone normal. This is my travel memoir and every bit of it is true. This is as real as travel books get.

Beautiful madness.
