Human nature’s a funny thing, especially if you’re Mike Salem. Mike finds himself caught-up in an ever-changing world of shady business deals and corporate politics - a world he once effortlessly kept up with, but one that lately seems to be turning against him.

Then one day, while driving through traffic a bizarre and tragic news story appears on the radio. It’s the story of an impoverished inner-city kid, Ra’ul Hernandez, who’d fallen in love with a television show – a show he couldn’t live without. DINOBOT-5 was the name; a science-fiction series about robot dinosaurs trapped in outer space and their struggle to return to their ancestral home – the planet earth.

The Dinobots had put their faith in a savior, and so too had Ra’ul. Each week the reptile robots and their half-man, half-machine messiah delivered hope and understanding to his troubled world. But when DINOBOT-5 suddenly disappeared from the airwaves one day, it signaled the end – not just for the Dinobots, but for Ra’ul, as well.

Of course, Mike had never heard anything so ridiculous in all his life. ‘How could anyone take a TV show so seriously?’ he wondered.

But, Mike would soon discover that Ra’ul’s story was actually his own; that what had been given to him with one hand, could be taken away with the other – and that the distance between the top and the bottom wasn’t as far as it seemed.
