With the rapid speed that computer technology evolves, and the slow rate that the Navy replaces old hardware, this can almost, but not quite, be considered a history book. (Remember, the sum of computer power on the space shuttle was less processing power than a typical smartphone!)

The volume starts with a history of digital computers and a variety of input, output and storage devices.

Lessons then go on to an overview of:
Rudementary disk and tape data storage systems.
Structure and function of raster scan CRTs
Picture Elements, pixels and pels
Flat Panel, LCDs, Gas plasma D, and Electroluminescent LDs
Network Architecture
Programming Languages.
