Fortunately for him one applicant is a young ex farm girl out of her depth in the big city. She seems more timid than him, so he hires her on the spot. Though different in background and temperaments the three soon become firm friends and, with each successive case, gain experience as detectives. From taxidermied stepmothers to german spies to the cut throat world of ballroom dancing, these three tackle them all with the aplomb of professionals.
