In the present day of information environment, information officer is not in a position to procure all type of sources, due to increased cost of reading material and shrinking library budget. It is essential to conduct user study to indentify the actual requirement of users and utility of library reading material. Systematic studies of the information gathering habit and behavior of the user community is important for improving the communication system. We are living in an era of information explosion and information doubles almost in every decade due to research and development. The progress of modern society depends upon the availability of right kind of information in the right form at the right time. Therefore, systematically ascertaining needs of users is the key elements from these perspectives. Understanding the information needs as well as use patterns and making available the right type of information to users accordingly appropriately is very important. Veterinarians are the persons who are taking care and diagnosis of the animal who cannot able to speak. For the User study of Veterinary scientists the seven collages and research institutes had been taken namely Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar (GBPUAT), Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University, Hisar (CCSHAU), Dean Dayal Upadhay University of Veterinary and Animal Science University, Mathura (DUVASU), Narendara Dey University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj(NDUAT), Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly (IVRI), Central Avían Research Institute, Bareilly (CARI) and National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal (NDRI). This study was carried out by personal interview with the help of comprehensive questionnaire. Only 304 responses were found usable, valid and were used for the analysis. The book Information Need of Veterinary Scientists provides the pattern of information need and Information seeking behaviour of veterinary scientists of three States.
