In Handcuffs

This is a story about control - the loss of control of your own life. This book relates to addiction: painkillers, heroin, and other opiates, including the primal addiction - all of the addictions that many people have gone through since childhood. The Methadone Clinic is described fully. We see portions of the lives of a number of characters who are not in control of their lives - they are slaves to their addictions. Addicts have referred to the clinic as being "In Handcuffs." You are under the control of the system, rather than street drugs and all that drug use implies. Addictions affect all aspects of your life. There is a chance for redemption, a possibility of doing well again in your life. That is essentially what this book is about. If you read this story, it'll make you laugh; it will also make you cry, but it will enlighten and entertain you.
