"I was born with the smell of methanol flowing through my veins."

My life-long passion for motor sport

A true "labour of love" by “petrolhead” craig lock

Imagine by John Lennon

"You may say that I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.

I hope that one day you’ll join us… and the world exists as ONE!” *

DEDICATION

Dedicated to my dear sons G and S who don’t quite share my passion, nay obsession for/with motor racing and especially, Formula 1. After reading this “little” e-book, perhaps that lack of interest may one day change. For all the time I watched races instead of playing with you “guys”

Watching children grow
is like threatening the ivy
to climb the garden wall.
You wait for it to happen
you hurry it along with love.
But still you’re disappointed
at giving someone life enough
to walk off on your own
and not be carried in your arms.
You never turn your back – not once,
and yet one day they’ve grown apart
or taller.
It’s all the same.

Polly put the kettle on, we’ll all have tea.
Giving love to children
has made us older overnight.”

– Rod McKune

Also to all the great drivers I’ve seen over the past 50 years or so, both at the track, but far more on TV. Thanks guys (and also you few “gals”) for the great pleasure you’ve given me. But this is also written for and dedicated to all you “fellow petrol-heads” throughout the world

enjoy

Don’t bend; don’t water it down; don’t try to make it logical; don’t edit your own soul according to the fashion. Rather, follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly.”

~ Franz Kafka

“Our biggest battles, the greatest mountain we need to climb lies in our our own minds”. It’s not the highest mountain that we conquer, but ourselves, our own mentality. Overcoming perceived limits to reach (attain) the pinnacle of our own minds.”

So how, where did it all, the “journey”, this life-long “obsession” begin...

PPS

To dearest dad, see the dream never died. It just took another course!

As Woody Allen once said: “Life is what happens between making other plans!”

"Sometimes you have to give up the life you had planned... in order to live the life you were meant to live." On the Podium after the Greatest Race…the Race of Life

“When (or perhaps if ever) you arrive in heaven, let faith, hope and love be the wings that carried you there.” - as adapted from the inspiring words of Jonathan Edwards, former minister in New England, Massachusetts

"The Greatest Race: Living by (with) faith, hope and love is the highest podium any person can reach, God’s podium that anyone stand on.”

- craig

“Having pursued the goals, the dreams set before us and run the race with persistence and endurance, after giving it all. Then one day standing on the summit of life, breathing in the pure sweet oxygen of achievement, totally satisfied in running the greatest race, the race of life one that ANYONE can run and win.”
