“Who are you?” you might ask of me.
“Well,” I answer, “I am nobody.”
Now, why would I say something like that? Believe me, it is certainly not to discourage you from reading or to indicate that I do not have some sort of message to convey; but it is to let you know that, while we are strangers to one another (and I am not just referring to the writer/reader relationship, but to any stranger-to-stranger relationship) each of us has a story to tell...a testimony, if you will.
I Am Nobody is my personal testimony and my only goal is to reach that one person out there that does not know the Lord Jesus Christ as their own personal Savior. Yes, you read that correctly: One person. Why just one person, you ask? Because the Bible charges us with spreading the word of Christ’s death and resurrection to others and we are never promised or guaranteed a large audience. So, I have a target of one individual.
Big aspirations, huh? Where the kingdom of God is concerned, one individual might be all it takes. That one individual might end up having a large national (if not global) audience. And if what it takes to bring that individual to the Lord is only to share my testimony then that is what I will do. To that one person, I am somebody.
But this discussion (and the title of this book) goes way deeper than just who I am and who you are. I hope to convey the right sense of understanding that without Christ, everything we are, everything we have done, and everything we strive to be, are selfish undertakings and in the end, mean nothing. However, with Christ everything has meaning, and we are no longer nobodies because He can take who we are and use it to inspire others in such a way that changes his or her life. In the end, it is Christ that transforms us from nobodies, to somebodies. So the contents of this book are not just my testimony, but also the chronicles of my life story that, through the love of Christ, transformed me into somebody. This book will also serve to prove that, through every circumstance in my life, the Bible can give us direction and help us understand that through the good and bad, what happens to us helps to shape who we are and adds weight and meaning to our testimony.
