“They say that everyone has a novel inside them, even a great one, perhaps; so then you just have to find the words.”

“’They’ also say that if enough chimpanzees were put in front of enough word processors for enough time, eventually one of them would write Hamlet.”

I WANT TO WRITE A BOOK (AND GET PUBLISHED)!
(to roars of laughter from family and friends… “Dreamer!”)

e write a book! What!!! A “pipedream” or possible…perhaps one day?
This short extract is from Bill’s and my original manuscript How to Write a Book and Get Published published some years back. We hope that these pointers may be helpful to aspiring * or perhaps other ‘non-techno’ authors and writers, like “yours truly”. Enjoy…

* What s the definition of an aspiring author?

INTRODUCTION
A few introductory words
Writing a book may seem extremely daunting and perhaps even impossible to you, as I felt when I started out writing (like flying to the moon); but if you believe you have some writing talent and you think people may enjoy your words, then just DO IT. As with eating an elephant (“hephelump”), break it, the task into “small chunks”. No only joking! Please treat all animals with great care. My point simply:
The key is taking that FIRST STEP in writing that first sentence, then one just gets involved in your “work of art”, as writing becomes a daily habit. One word simply flows into the next, then one chapter just leads on to the next one…

The journey of a thousand miles starts with a flat tyre and a broken fan-belt, er sorry, a single step!
- as adapted from ancient Chinese proverb

Happy writing… and dreaming

craig

“All our dreams can come true…
if we have the courage to pursue them.”

- Walt Disney

Note:
This manuscript was originally written early on in my writing “career” (in about 1995), just as the internet was about to be unleashed on us all, so have updated it to reflect a changed “techno” world… and new ways of doing things. Though I’ve uploaded the earlier version of the manuscript, I’m still checking and re-writing it “as I go” and will upload the updated version shortly (in the next few days)
In the meantime…enjoy
