Have you been setting goals, maybe New Year’s resolution, but fail to achieve them? Or have you given up setting goals altogether due to feeling frustrated when you fail to achieve them yet again? The issue is not the goal (whatever it is), and neither is goal setting a waste of time. The issue is that somewhere along the line you have lost “focus” on your goal which leads to lack of interest and ultimately failure to achieve the goal. In other words you’re no longer in control of the goals you set. Imagine a driver driving under the influence, it doesn’t matter how many years of experience he has, the result is always the same. That’s exactly what losing focus of your goal is. Why is maintaining focus so important? It is because no matter how hard you try or how good the goal is, without focus, you’ll never reach it. Let me put it this way, all achievements are a result of focusing and maintaining that focus on the goal. For example observe track and field athletes before the start of a race, their focus is ferocious! It’s almost as if they’re already at the end of the race. While they’re aware of other competitors, they’re not focused on them, they only have their eyes on the gold medal (the goal). This practice of focusing on the goal extends to all works of life, marriage, relationship, career, investments etc. Being focused doesn't mean shutting out the world to focus on your goals as most people think, and if they fail, they regret not indulging in certain things when they had the opportunity. Being focused actually means the opposite. It means opening up your mind to the world to see opportunities and grab them, see pitfalls and avoid them. With the help of this book, I am confident that your voyage towards achieving your long term goals or perhaps the one you have your eyes on right now will be a success. If you feel you can do more with your life or perhaps a little more focus on your past endeavours (job, projects, relationships, academics, etc.) would have gone a long way to achieving your goals, then this book is talking to you. There’s no time to dwell in regrets of what you did or shouldn’t have done in the past, now is the time to regain focus [while you’re still alive].
