As a sneak peak, I will give you an excerpt from my book:

"Step 1: Creating a “sticky” name for your business

Creating a name for your online business is not just step 1 it’s the most important step. Take your time with this. I can’t tell you how important it is to have a name that everyone will remember if they hear it once. This is your brand and will be used for the life of it.

If your full name is short and sounds “movie-starrish” then that is always an idea you can use. For example, if your name is Benjamin Harris you could always go with “Ben Harris”. It’s a simple yet catchy name that people will be able to remember and put together with one of your paintings or drawings, especially once they see the signature. Don’t use your name if you have a common or long name. For example, if your name is John Smith (way too common) or Helena Gacia-Ortiz (too long) then I would come up with another name to use as your business name.

If your name doesn’t work, take your time to come up with something unique. You can try things like “Art by Jacky” or “Dreamspace Art”. Whatever you come up with, I highly recommend doing a search for it in Google. Let’s say you go with “Hand Painted by Ashley”, search those exact words in Google. Now if random websites, articles, etc. come up about art then it’s safe to say that is a good name to go with. However, if you do that search and the first 2 website look like this:

Hand Painted by Ashley – Home

handpaintedbyashley.com/

Hand Painted by Ashley / Facebook

Facebook.com/handpaintedbyashley

Then I highly recommend this for two reasons. One, there’s a possibility of copyright violations. Two, that person’s website will always get more exposure than you and you will be continuously competing with this person and losing potential sales (unless you are an SEO guru). "
