What would happen if you only read books by authors you know? To be honest, I'm not quite certain but what I do know is: If we only look west, we'll never see the sunrise. If we travel only familiar roads, we'll never find ourselves any place new. And if we stare out the same window, the view will never change. Sure, a big red fire truck (complete with blaring sirens) might speed by once in a while but much will remain the same. My name is Tunde Sule and I offer you my first book, a collection of 10 subtly linked short stories titled 'Half This, Half That'. I hope you enjoy reading every bit of it as much as I have enjoyed writing it. The book, Half This, Half That is compilation of 10 short stories that explore the struggles of everyday people living in contemporary Nigeria. However as the reader goes from story to story, a pattern of interconnectedness is revealed. Each story is not independent after all. Characters from previous stories re-emerge in seemingly unrelated stories reinforcing the main theme of the book that we never really see the full picture or get the full story when characters enter our lives – Only half of this and half of that. So when a mother chooses a denim bag over her child or a wedding becomes a free for all fight, and we're shocked, it's because we only see the 'half' of it.
