A nostalgic and informative look at the highways/trails of the United States of the early 20th century. And a brief look at the historical development of the component pieces. All thirty seven of the transcontinental road/trails listed in the 1925 edition of Clason's "Touring Atlas" are identified. The authors interest was sparked by family tales of a 1925 roadtrip from Seattle to Rochester, MN. What was travel like for early day motorists? My wife and I wanted to find out. We decided to explore one of those old routes. We picked the Lee Highway. The specific route it followed from Washington D.C. to the Pacific Coast is identified. Included also is detailed information about the Sunset Highway, which led from Seattle east over the Cascade Mountains.
