"May this book be as inspiring to those who read it as the Lord Jesus is to she who wrote it." —Barry Brooks, Manchester, England
"I have had the honour of being Ethel’s pastor for the last sixteen years. She is a lady of excellence! Ethel has lived through joys and sorrows, yet has always kept her faith in her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The title of this book is very appropriate because she surely has experienced His love made visible in her own personal life.
I believe that Ethel’s God-given gift of being able to write poetry has been extremely therapeutic. I am personally thrilled at this piece of work that she has accomplished and put together in her latter years. Surely she is being fruitful in this season and is leaving a legacy to all who know her and love her." —Pastor Janet Kristensen, Associate Pastor, Elim City Church, Peterborough, Ontario
About the Author: I was born in Radcliffe, Lancashire, England in October 1925. I had but one brother, Harold. From three years of age to sixteen, I was a ballet dancer, and would have liked to have gone on to be a teacher. By sixteen, however; World War II was two years old, so I went to work in a munitions factory and was there until the war ended. I met a Canadian soldier called Harold, whom I adored and we married in August 1945. I arrived in Halifax, Canada on the RMS Aquitania, a beautiful ship filled with war brides in July 1946. In Harold’s home town of Peterborough, we started our family of nine children, six girls and three boys. My heart was shattered when I lost Deborah in a drowning and a few years later, Peter in a car accident. My seven remaining children all reside in Ontario. I have since been blessed with 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. I waitressed for almost 25 years at the same restaurant. I loved the opportunity to serve people. Sweets have always been a weakness for me, especially chocolate. I became a Christian in March 1975, and I’ve never been the same since. I have attended Elim City Church for more than 30 years and have come to love the people there as my second family. The Lord has given me the gift of poetry, which comes straight from the heart and has been a blessing to both my family and my church family. Christmas is my most favorite time of the year, so it’s easy to write about my Savior. I will always give Him the glory. Today, at 87 years old, my prayer for you is that you will be both blessed and encouraged as you read God’s Love Made Visible and will have the desire to find yourself a good bible based church and nurture your own relationship with God.
