“It is a precious thing to speak in depth with fellow believers who have undergone profound suffering. Cameron Fraser and Sonya Taekema favor us with two such intimate conversations, one nested inside the other. Fraser shares Sonya’s diary of her daughter’s long, arduous, and repeatedly frustrating fight with life-threatening disease. He frames those often heart-rending entries with his own observations—observations won the hard way, through his own personal struggle with cancer. This approach lends immediacy to Cassidy’s story. It invites us along to experience the roller coaster on which the Taekema family finds itself. All along the way we are well compensated for tracing the fears, the frustrations, and the tedium of endless cycles of treatments, gains, and relapses.
“Not every reader will reach the same conclusions or scan God’s hand in this in the same way that the authors do. No matter. What reverberates throughout God is Always Good: Cassidy’s Story is the tenacity and profound beauty of tested faith, generous testimonies to God’s presence, guidance, grace, and love.”
—Bob De Moor, Editor, The Banner
“It is a story that needs to be told.”
—Rob vanSpronsen, Principal, Immanuel Christian High School, Lethbridge, Alberta
