• In the wake of the most recent Israel-Gaza conflict, Israel has initiated a new wave of settlement building in the West Bank, and so the subject is likely to remain highly topical for some time.
• The first book on the subject to be written for a general audience.
• Fills a gap in the scholarship. Although there have been a number of research papers on the use of Palestinian labour in the settlements, this would be the first book length study of the subject.
• A rich ethnographic study which draws its insights from the voices of Palestinian labourers themselves.
• Draws attention to the Israeli state’s coercive labour practices, and so will be of interest to Palestinian and workers’ rights activists.
