It was obvious to Captain Renault that the Empire she served was slowly dying. Well maybe not even that slowly. She thought it did not take a genius to conclude they were losing a War started by a race they could only label as "The Lizard's." In Battle after Battle the Empire's tech was just not good enough and it did not look like they would be given the time to catch up. As Captain of the Defiant, one of the few remaining Dreadnought class Battle Ships, she had won a few battles. Even been ‘noticed’ by the Emperor. As a reward for his awareness, she and her newly gathered Fleet were facing another Battle. Her ship’s sensors confirmed the Enemy Fleet was larger than hers. The sensors also confirmed each of the Enemy’s ships classification. The most worrisome readings also confirmed the Enemy definitely had far better tech. Today she was certain; she and hers would not survive. The Lizard's did not take prisoners. She knew her Fleet would not survive if she let the Enemy take the initiative. Just as she sent the order to Attack a small Star Ship appeared between her Fleet and the Lizard Fleet. It did not fit any of the Empire's known profiles and her day changed radically.

What she witnessed the crew of that small unknown vessel accomplish, scared her.

Many would say it was predictable that her day would go from bad to worse.

But to those on that small strange Star Ship, a Ship of a Race who's only name was The People, would boldly claim Captain Renault’s day changed from very bad to completely wonderful!

Then she met a Warrior of the People named ‘One’ and more than the day changed!
