She was about to get married when love's lightning struck her.
Love at First Sight Short Story

Lani thought she's already in love--with Rick, her fiance. And they were going to be married very soon.

But this belief disintegrated after she meets Rick's good friend Connor--who's going to be their Bestman! The first time is like lightning striking through her heart. Not only does she start thinking about him, she can't stop thinking about him. Suddenly, her times with Rick are being dominated by Connor's presence. Everything she once felt for Rick, she now feels for Connor more than a hundred times. What's worse, Connor feels it, too! They are in panic. They certainly never wanted to hurt Rick, but desiring each other was so powerful they couldn't deny it from each other, even when they could at least held those feelings in bay.

What the hell was happening? Lani seeks advice from her grandmother who always, always, has an answer.

And that's when she first learns about the phenomena of the Twin Flames--being struck by lightning. Basically, it is what soul mates feel when they finally meet each other.

She and Connor are soul mates. That explains everything.

But Rick loves and trusts both of them. What are they going to do?

He sighed deeply. "Now, Rick's my friend, maybe even my best friend, and you're going to be his wife." A look of anguish coupled with desire entered his face and it almost brokeher heart. "But right there and then, all I knew is that I wanted you so fucking bad. I wanted to kiss you and lay you back on that picnic table and run my hands all over your body!"

Lani took a deep, trembling breath."Yes, Connor. I did feel something at the park. It was pretty much what you just described. And, no, I don't know what it was. She felt pain in her heart, which was deeply confusing. How could she feel something this deeply for someone she'd just met? "I just don't know, Connor. This is so confusing for me, too. There was no precedence for this. I have never gone through something like this before... even with Rick."

There was a moment when it was like he was going to kiss her just for what she'd admitted...
