Desert Kill

This is the second title in the Santiago mystery series.
Lindsey Braun is a twenty year old going on thirty-five. She’s a rich kid who has led an edgy, do-whatever-you-want lifestyle. She’s even engaged in affairs with older men, including a few who were married, all with the approval of her bacchanalian father, Claude Braun, a billionaire Chandler software developer and friend to the government’s highest officials. She is a student at ASU but lives off campus. She never disappears without a phone call, but no one has seen her or her car for three days.
Finally, Braun’s wife and Lindsey’s stepmother, Nikki, calls in her dear friend, Seattle Homicide Detective Michelle Santiago. Santiago drops everything, leaving a coastal vacation in Washington with her partner and lover, Chance Stewart. She takes a leave of absence and flies into a murderous nightmare in Arizona’s Valley of the Sun to find Claude and Nikki’s missing daughter.
Braun believes Lindsey has been kidnapped, but he is reluctant to report her missing. Lindsey has had many flings in her short life. He doesn’t want to embarrass his daughter or the company or compromise the secret government work his company does.
When the kidnapper sends Lindsey’s ring finger to her father, the FBI recognize it as the signature of a serial killer who was once listed as MIA in Vietnam, and who is a CIA-type gone off the reservation. He is also a mercenary, an assassin and a stone-cold psychopath.
Santiago has become an obsession of the killer, so she works with an undercover agent posing as a long lost love interest to draw the him out. She taunts him, flaunts her flesh at the pool and teases him while bathing. But before she can do anything she must survive his life-altering plans for her.
