Louisa Carmichael has had it. After her boss gives a less qualified co-worker the promotion he’d promised Lou, she quits. But she only makes it as far as her car before panic sets in. At twenty-eight, her entire life has revolved around her career. Who is she without it? Fortunately, Lou has the perfect excuse to avoid facing that question: a trip to France for her best friend’s wedding.

There she meets Yves Betancourt, a handsome French man who happens to be the most off-putting person she’s ever met, even if she is fascinated by his passion for his work. One desperate, lonely night in Paris, she takes him up on his invitation to meet for a drink. When he offers to be her guide as she retraces the path her grandfather took during his post-World War II tour of Normandy, Lou throws caution to the wind, falling deeply under the spell of the French countryside, food, wine—and Yves.
