“So…just like that, and we’re going to go back to pretending like we barely recognise each other again?” There was real emotion in Parker’s words but Julius refused to answer the question.
“I just wanted you to know the reason why…” he said, his voice trailing off, suddenly distant and aloof.
They left The Supper Club, walking out into the now empty street. Parker felt tired, burdened by the weight of their conversation. He hadn’t felt this way about anybody before and yet it was all being taken away from him. Before anything had even really began. Was it truly better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all? Right now, it certainly didn’t feel that way to Parker.
They stood next to each other in silence, as Julius tried to flag down a cab. It didn’t take long for one to arrive.
“Go ahead,” Parker said, “I’ll just take the next one.” He turned his head away slightly, not wanting Julius to see the tears that were brimming in his eyes.
A hand reached out, grabbing his arm roughly. Parker was surprised, albeit a little turned on by the sudden show of aggression. Julius pulled him into the cab and immediately started sniffing him up and down his chest, a low growl emanating from the recesses of his throat.
The cab driver smirked as he looked into his rear view mirror. He’d been driving a cab for nearly twenty years now and he’d seen everything, or so he thought.
No words were exchanged in the cab. This was so uncharacteristic of Julius, Parker thought. Julius’s nose was nuzzling against his skin, smelling him , taking in his scent like there was no tomorrow. He just couldn’t get enough of Parker.
“Hey, take it easy, tiger,” he said, “I’m not a piece of meat.” Parker tried to slow things down a little, and he derived just the slightest bit of pleasure from doing so, after how Julius had tried to avoid him the past few months. Still, he couldn’t halt Julius’s advance for too long. It just felt so good.
