When John received the call he was speechless.  He felt in his heart this day might come, but it was still unexpected.  It hit him like a jolt of electricity and left him leaving cold and empty.  What had he done to deserve this?  He had always been willing to work hard, sacrifice, and get ahead yet no one seemed to care.  All the work through the years seemed suddenly wasted as reality hit home.  He didn’t know what to do and he didn’t know where to turn.   Part of him was terrified yet part of him didn’t seem to care.  “What is wrong with me?” he thought as he pondered his life, his past and his future.

Then came that unexpected voice from behind him.  It was familiar yet had a tinge of the unknown in it.  The voice belonged to a man.  A man John knew yet today he seemed unfamiliar.  Perhaps it was just the fading light of what was turning out to be a very forgettable day.  Or, it could be something else but he couldn’t put his finger on exactly what.  Well, not that it really mattered.  After today, nothing really mattered to John.

Suddenly, the voice spoke to John again freeing him from his thoughts.  The man asked him a question that shook him to his core.  That question that would lead him on a journey he never expected.  A walk only he could take.
