On December 3, 2016, my German Shepherd Madd Maxx and I were searching for prehistoric artifacts on a private ranch in the Rocky Mountains when a herd of horned cattle attacked my dog, and then attacked me. We survived a brutal onslaught. I was air lifted to a well-known trauma center while Madd Maxx ended up at an emergency veterinarian clinic. In the introduction to Crow and the Cave, I describe this incident.

My physical recovery was brutal. I learned about real pain and discovered my patience. As an author, I could not ignore the opportunity to write about my all-too-real experience in the context of another prehistoric adventure. I fired up my time machine, set the dial for 8700 B.C. and revisited some old friends from my *Shadows on the Trail *Trilogy book series.

I wrote Crow and the Cave from my heart. The story was inspired by my own blood, sweat, and tears.  I hope you enjoy my adventure!
