Armand Baptiste was born into a family of wealth and influence. They are a wealthy Creole of Color family from New Orleans. His African American-French Ancestors have used their light skin color to their advantage for generations and his mother remains unreasonably obsessed with “keeping color”. Armand loves his mother dearly, but when he falls for the dark- skinned beauty of his dreams, Jennifer Brown, he discovers that his life is not his own and his ruthless mother will stop at nothing to keep him away from Jennifer.
