Many collegiate Christians view college as an opportunity to create a new identity and be separate from the things that were “holding them back”. Sadly, this often means walking away from a vibrant, personal relationship with Christ and anything that has to do with the Christian faith. The same wonderful youth group kids become total pagans by their senior year of college. Young believers are sometimes so hungry for worldly experiences, freedom from their parents, and freedom from the rigor of their faith that they gorge on the world’s philosophies. And its poisons kill them. Some statistics have the number of church kids that abandon the faith at over 80%. That is both a frightening and heartbreaking thought. In College Impact, Damian Boyd, a seasoned leader in campus ministry, outlines how college Christians can better use and leverage their influence to impact their campuses for Jesus. This book is a guide for students to remain focused when issues challenge their stance for Christ and not become brash, arrogant, or so dogmatic that they chase people away before ever getting a chance to share this glorious good news. It is the author’s intention that after reading this book, college believers would be empowered to strategically fulfill the Great Commission on their campus. This book also highlights practical leadership strategy that could revolutionize the campus and ignite a spiritual awakening. Without Christ as the essential driving passion, then all Christian students have, at best, are gimmicks. This passion is that vitally important. It’s all about looking at how the college believer can leverage one’s life in such a way that people have the opportunity to follow as he or she follows Christ. This book challenges collegiate leaders to be a voice for God and to be in the best place, where they can have the most opportunities, to get the greatest chance to communicate the greatest message. We are a part of the New Testament church. The Great Commission has no expiration date. We are to take the message of Jesus to the world. College students have an awesome opportunity to touch lives for Jesus. It’s imperative that they not waste one moment God has given them. They must choose to see their collegiate experience as an assignment, not just a circumstance.
