I flash back to a summer night, 40 years ago. Deanna and I duck out of a party at the lake and walk down the shore a bit. Deanna is anxious for sex and so am I.
Afterward, Deanna tells me, "It's the first time I have ever done anything like this."
I presume that she really means that it's the first time that night.
Deanna has pictures of her four kids that she shows me. No two of them have any sort of close physical resemblance. Deanna has not changed!
Deanna and Dan wander away and I find myself with Elaine.
Elaine was the class 'good girl.' She had smarts and 'high morals,' if you believed the teachers at Valley High.
I flash back to one night when I find Elaine and some girl friend of hers parked out in a little pull-off on a remote stretch of North Valley Road. The girls have been smoking dope and they're really high. I stop because I think that they may have had car trouble. As I get out of my car, the other girl panics and drives off. Elaine had gotten out of the car and she stands there. Elaine may be the good girl, but she's anxious for sex and so am I.
I relive the moments with Elaine. As I return to the real world, an embarrassed Elaine is introducing me to her husband. Elaine has snagged herself a Mother's Dream, or MD, as they're more commonly known. Elaine and her husband are pillars of the community, etc. They're also boring as hell.
