Personal Impressions of the 31st Eucharistic Congress in Dublin 1932

In 1932 the Eucharistic Congress came to a young independent Ireland. It was an important event for the struggling country, which wanted to show itself capable so soon after breaking free from British control.

Chesterton attended and later wrote down what he saw Since there was no television and very few people had radios this type of communication was very popular.

Chesterton does not simply stick to the proceedings but uses them to launch off in all sorts of directions; political, religious and otherwise. From his opinions of flags, to the former rule of Britain over Ireland to what he thought the cardinals and bishops looked like in their red robes.
