Chess Face is inspired mainly by my early paintings of still lives. I was truly trying to master and express all I had learned at this time while exploring my signature as an artist thus creating the first vision of my art.
It starts with a girl reading a book and we learn Tassajara is one of her favorite books. The rooms around her are explored and given a description of their interiors. She falls into a dream. Soon her visitor arrives but not before she bids goodnight to her portrait of a night lamp. The layout of the book is formatted along the idea of a chessboard. A few selected passages are written in Spanish and English.
I truly hope you enjoy this story which I hope to elaborate upon with further books of stories and paintings from this period.
