Aryn married her high school sweetheart, but she’s had doubts about the relationship for a while. When her husband’s boss confirms Alan has been cheating, she turns to him for comfort. When Cole makes it clear he wants to do more than comfort her, and he wants to keep her forever, will she surrender to the temptation of being completely loved? Two wrongs don’t make a right, but being held in Cole’s arms doesn’t feel wrong. It feels righter than anything has for years. Has she been cheated out of her true love for the past four years of her marriage, and will she be cheating both herself and Cole if she walks away?

Excerpt:

“Alan,” called Aryn hesitantly ad she stepped into the darkened room. She was looking for her husband, since he’d disappeared from the Christmas party forty-five minutes ago. She barely knew any of his coworkers, and it was awkward standing around making small talk with people she didn’t know and didn’t care to know while waiting for her husband to return with drinks. When he hadn’t returned, she’d set out in search of him, and she was getting quietly desperate at this point. She was pretty sure she’d searched every part of this floor, except for this darkened room and a couple of other doors farther down the corridor.

She gasped with surprise when the light flicked on, blinding her from moment. Aryn blinked as she grew accustomed to the sudden brightness, freezing with surprise when she saw who had turned on the lights. It was Cole Blakely, the owner of the company, and her husband’s boss.

Though she was a married woman, she couldn’t help appreciating how handsome Cole was, with his broad shoulders, lean waist, and perfectly tailored suit he wore for the semiformal office party. His dark hair was thick and lustrous, inviting her fingers to run through it, and he had mesmerizing gray eyes. The color should have been cold, perhaps unemotional, but they appeared warm. Hot even, as he looked at her.

She forced a tentative smile. “I’m sorry. I was looking for Alan. I didn’t mean to invade your personal space.”

He sauntered closer to her, his form solidly between her and the door, though she wasn’t certain why she noticed that. “This isn’t a private place. It’s a conference room. My office is through that door. That’s private.” He stopped talking as he reached her, trailing two of his fingers down her arm, bared from the cocktail dress. “Would you like a tour?”

His honeyed words and smooth voice made her want all kinds of things that were inappropriate for a woman who’d been married for four years, and she shook her head. “I just want to find Alan.”

He arched a brow. “Do you really?”

She frowned. “Of course I do.”

He bent his head, at first looking like he was going to kiss her. She looked up out of habit, in search of mistletoe, but froze when his lips brushed against her ear for a moment before he spoke. “I don’t think you want to see what he’s doing, Aryn.”

She turned to look at him, conscious of their faces so close together, though focused on his words. “What do you mean?”

“Your husband is currently banging Sheila from Accounting in the supply room at the end of the hall. I saw them go in there myself, and as I stood at the doorway, I could hear her cries of passion through the closed door.”

She glared at him. “I don’t believe you.”

He chuckled. “Is it because you don’t think Alan could make any woman cry with passion?”

Her glare deepened, though she shifted uncomfortably on the high heels. “He wouldn’t do that to me.” But would he? Hadn’t she wondered for months if he was having an affair? Something about his behavior had been off, and he’d been working a lot of late nights.

As though he’d read her thoughts, Mr. Blakely said, “Just in case you’re wondering, Alan hasn’t had any overtime for months. He’s out the door right at five o’clock, per his schedule. I haven’t had him on any projects that require him to stay late.”

She wanted to deny the words even as dismay washed through her. Alan was supposed to be the love of her life, and she had married him during their sophomore year of college, after they had dated since high school. She’d never even been with another man, and she hadn’t been tempted either.

At least not until now, and she was alarmed to find herself swaying slightly toward the alpha male beside her. Alan was a sweet man, with an average build, a wide smile, and sandy-blond hair. He was easygoing and on the congenial side. She had a feeling his boss was anything but easygoing.
