 Year 1968, without question, was the year civil unrest and disobedience rose to the forefront of American life in a manner never seen since the South seceding from the Union. From the Vietnam War and the political assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy to the Democratic National Convention and the violent demonstrations demanding human rights, Americans were roused and demanded their voices be heard. During those tumultuous twelve months, not a single American family remained unscathed. The demands for national desegregation, racial equality, and women’s rights continued to reverberate. Needless to say, the cry for ending the Vietnam War was paramount.
